  2. I too often feel in Bing that the space dwarfs the music in it. When the orchestra performs Beethoven, they face the nearly impossible task of making the music dominate the space like it naturally should. "Landfall" was smart in that it made the bigness of the interior work to its advantage by turning the overhead space into a place for performance and allowing the music to occupy a different plane. The lighting design was honestly one of the best parts of the show, letting the audience flow between self-consciousness and absorption in the art at the right times.

  3. The concert hall is fantastic. And beautiful, inside and out. I'm no concert hall connoisseur, but it seems like it could serve diverse purposes, from a traditional classical piece to a multimedia performance piece like "Landfall".

  4. Bing’s compact, in-the-round design enables artist and audience to encounter each other intimately. The space is well suited to multi-media works such as “Landfall,” and it seems to have been designed as a space for experimentation as well as for more traditional performances.
