Bing’s design ensures that there isn’t a bad seat in the house. However, sitting in the choir section meant that I couldn’t see Anderson’s face. While I don’t think this significantly changed my experience, I still would have enjoyed putting a face to the eerie, almost alien voice that was central to many aspects of “Landfall.”
Kind of depressing. You can see just how many people didn't go, and that everybody who did go was clearly not a student. About a quarter of the (already pretty small number of) seats were unfilled. Bing's shows are underpublicized and thus underattended, though whether the fault lies with Bing or the students is beyond my judgment.
I love watching people's faces when they play strings because their expressions are almost always emotive and sincere. Without front row seats this would be difficult regardless, but not getting a look at the performers' faces was kind of disappointing.
